Historical Note
William Fotheringham (1826-1916) was a Mormon convert born in Scotland who emigrated to Utah in 1850. He was imprisoned for polygamy (1885) and later served as mayor of Beaver, Utah, Beaver County Probate Clerk, and a member of the Territorial Legislature (1879-1880).

The William Fothering papers (1853-1910) contains personal diaries, mission diaries, family histories, professional and personal correspodnece, and miscellaneous materials relating to LDS proselyting missions to India (1854-1855) and Africa (1861-1867).
