Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Anne Brown was born in Schluechtern, Germany in 1926. In 1936, she attended boarding school in England before moving to New York with her family in 1939. She graduated from Adelphi College for Nursing with a degree in nursing and worked in the Bronx. She moved to Seattle in 1948, married Will Brown in 1950, and worked various nursing jobs including Harborview Hospital, Ballard Hospital, the Health Center at Western Washington University, and University of Florida hospital. She has served on the board of Hillel at University of Washington and has been an active member of Congregation Beth Israel in Bellingham.

Oral history interview conducted May 1, 2006. Brown discusses her family's experience with Kristallnacht in Germany and subsequent move to New York, her move to Seattle, and her involvement in Congregation Beth Israel in Bellingham. She descibes the history of the Jewish community in Bellingham and its current activities. Names mentioned include Rabbi Gartner, Rabbi Oblath, and Eytz Chaim.
