Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Lorna Marple was born in 1910 in New Haven, Connecticut and moved to Portland, Oregon in 1939. She was an active member of her community, which included serving as the president of the NAACP branch in Portland and the executive committeeman for the Democratic Party Central Committee. She also worked with the Council of Churches (1950-1959), the American Red Cross (1943-1946), Portland Public Forum Association (1946-1947), the Oregon State Grange (1947-1959), the Urban League of Portland, and other organizations. Mrs. Marple passed away in 1992 at the age of 82.
