Biographical Note
Donald Schmechel was a Seattle attorney and political supporter of Henry M. Jackson who conducted interviews with over 100 people who knew Jackson. Informants include U.S. Senators, Washington State political leaders, public officials, former Jackson aides, and political supporters of Jackson. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation provided funding for this project. Schmechel died in 1988 without finishing the project. Laszlo Pal, a documentary film maker who had worked on Jackson's campaigns, conducted some of the interviews.
