Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Ruby Hills, Kathryn Hilterbrant, and Edith Richards were members of the 46th General Hospital. Ruby Hills, a nurse anesthetist, earned a major's rank in the Army Reserves and worked 28 years at Vancouver Memorial Hospital. Kathryn Hilterbrant stayed in the Army Reserves to attain a lieutenant colonel's rank and worked at Vancouver Memorial Hospital for 34 years as a nurse anesthetist. Edith Richards, a graduate of Good Samaritan Hospital Training School for Nurses, worked as a pediatric nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital before WWII. After the war she worked in California as a nurse and for a short time at the Veteran's Administration Hospital before retiring.
