Historical NoteReturn to Top

Cromwell, a community on the Hale Passage in Puget Sound, was named in the early 1900s for John B. Cromwell who came to Tacoma from Wisconsin in 1883. He was a real estate agent and became postmaster of the city in 1889. Cromwell had a population of one hundred fifty persons in 1915 and had a post office from March 1903 to September 1931.

The collection consists of a manuscript that is a compilation of memories of friends who lived and attended school in Cromwell during the early 1900s. Also included is a list of names and addresses of people invited to the Cromwell Reunion held in July 1980.
