Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Pauline Kotz Zelikovsky was born in Ufa, Russia in 1901 and emigrated with her family to Harbin, Manchuria. She received her medical degree in Liege, Belgium. She returned from Liege to Harbin but soon moved to Shanghai where she had a general practice at the hospital. She was active in the Jewish community in Shanghai. She married Michail A. Zelikovsky in 1931 and emigrated to Montreal, Canada with him in 1953, where she continued to practice medicine. She died in Piestany, Czechoslovakia in 1971.

Ida Zelikovsky Green Lassers was a pianist, piano teacher, and resident of Kirkland, Washington. She was born in Russia and emigrated to the Seattle area after living for extended periods in Harbin, Manchuria; Manila, Philippines; and Vancouver, B.C. She is the mother of Abe Zelikovsky and Esther Zelikovsky Robbins Hutton.

Michael (“Misha”) A. Zelikovsky (25 September 1897 – 17 January 1986) was the 7th of 9 children born to Abraham and Rachel Zelikovsky. He was born in Tomsk, Russia. Shortly thereafter the family was given special permission and encouragement to enter Harbin, Manchuria for settlement purposes. They took the opportunity because of greater freedoms and promises for education and personal safety.

Misha graduated from high school and the University of Belgium. It was there that he met his future wife, Pauline Kotz. During this time he also worked in a mechanical factory to help support himself. Upon their graduation they returned to China where they married and moved to Shanghai. During their lifetimes Misha and Pauline worked for the Jewish community in China by helping incoming refugees. In 1953 they moved to Montreal, Canada where Misha worked as a businessman in manufacturing. He passed away in 1986.
