Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Willie Teeter, also known as "Mrs. T," was a well-known and well-loved staff member at the Pacific University School of Optometry from the 1960s through the 1990s, when she retired. She married Truman Teeter, a who later became a professor of chemistry at Pacific University, in 1949. They lived in Eugene, Oregon until moving to Forest Grove in 1965, and raised two daughters named Martha and Ann Marie.

The collection consists of cookbooks from 1949 through 1980, many of them issued as promotional items by brands such as 7-Up, Pillsbury, Jell-O and Tabasco Sauce. They show popular recipes that were promoted to American women during this time period, such as Jell-O's "Under the Sea Salad" and Land-o-Lakes' "Oriental Stuffing." Some of the books also include housekeeping tips on cleaning, furnishing the home and taking care of children.
