Biographical Note

Professor of Genetics and specialist in yeast research. Dr. Roman joined the University of Washington Botany Department faculty in 1942. On July 1, 1959 he became the 1st chair and founder of the Genetics Department. In 1970 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. He was president of the Genetics Society in 1968. He resigned as chair of the department in 1980.
