- The Elizabeth Dennistoun Wood Kane diary consists of a photocopy from microfilm of the original. The diary documents Elizabeth Kane's travels from Salt Lake City to St. George, Utah and back. Material in the diary was later used by Kane in the writing of her book entitled, Twelve Mormon homes visited in succession on a journey through Utah to Arizona.

Elizabeth Dennistoun Wood Kane was the wife of Thomas L. Kane and accompanied him with their two sons to Utah and Arizona from Pennsylvania in 1872-1873. Both she and her husband were considered to be sympathetic to the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
