Historical NoteReturn to Top

Albert Hawes Tanner (1855-1932) was the son of a pioneers Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Lucelle Turner, who came to Oregon in 1852. A lawyer by trade, Tanner was elected to the state legislature as a Republican representing Multnomah County in 1882. From 1884 to 1886, he was a City Attorney for Portland, Oregon. In 1888, he was appointed a Portland municipal judge.
