Series I consists of correspondence, minutes, and related documentation pertaining to the organization and administration of public relations at Oregon State as well as materials documenting specific events and activities during the 1950s and 1960s. Of special note are materials pertaining to a proposed reorganization of university relations functions presented to President Jensen and minutes of the University Relations Council, which was established in 1968.

Series II consists solely of the News Bureau Office Manual prepared by Barbara Clark in May 1942. The manual outlines general office procedures and provides instructions for clipping, indexing, and filing clippings; description of the Bureau's files; and policies for preparation and distribution of news releases.

Series III consists of scripts for OSU Foundation public service announcements (PSAs). These may have been prepared by students as class projects.

Series IV comprises the bulk of the collection and consists of biographical files created and maintained by News and Communication Services for the purposes of creating news releases and as an information source for other Oregon State offices and departments and outside organizations. More than 2000 faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and others affiliated with Oregon State are represented in the records. The files include completed biographical forms, personal histories, news releases, clippings, vitae and publications lists, awards, obituaries, correspondence, and other materials. For some individuals, documents are available on microfilm and in paper form. The bulk of the files are stored by accession and alphabetically thereunder.
