Louisa Thalmann was born in the county of Thurgau, Parish Dussnang, Switzerland, in 1843. She married John Hasler in 1869, the same year they had both converted to the LDS faith. They left for Utah that same year and settled in Mt. Pleasant. Louisa served in the Relief Society for thirty-two years and had eight children.

Pleasant, Utah. Her autobiography describes her early years in Switzerland, her conversion to the LDS Church with her husband, their emigration to Utah, and pioneering in Mt. Pleasant.
