Biographical Note
Born May 31, 1936, in London, died in Seattle, July 24, 2005 of pancreatic cancer. University of Washington Professor of Atmospheric Sciences 1970-2005. Peter V. Hobbs was Professor of Atmospheric Sciences and Director of the Cloud and Aerosol Research Group (CARG) at the University of Washington in Seattle. He received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, in 1960 and 1963, respectively.

The International Commission on Clouds and Precipitation (ICCP) is a Commission of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS). The IAMAS is one of the associations of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). Peter V. Hobbs was president of this commission between 1984 and 1992.
