Historical NoteReturn to Top

Edwin Ivey (1883-1940) was born in Seattle and studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and had numerous architectural firms in the Seattle area. Elizabeth Ayer (1897-1987) was the first woman to graduate from the University of Washington with an architecture degree and worked under Ivey until his death, and after his death, continued to work under his name. The house 320 39th Ave E. is in the Madison neighborhood in Seattle.

10 architectural drawings : 9 graphite on trace, 1 graphite and ink on vellum
Ten architectural drawings include nine sheets numbered one through ten (missing No. 4). Drawings include: basement plan, first floor plan, second floor plan and finish schedule of second floor doors, side exterior elevation, lake side exterior elevation, side exterior elevation, interior elevation/detail drawing/section drawing, section drawings (eve, front gable, arches, stairs), detail and section drawings (windows, gate) and balcony plan. 8 are initialed by W.S.K., and one is initialed by E.A. One additional drawing (not in numbered series), a basement heating plan, initialled by Q. All were done under the Edwin Ivey firm.
