Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Fannie Coe's father, Aaron Shifrin, fled Harbin, China, in 1915, leaving a prosperous lumber business. Fannie and her mother sailed the following year, meeting Mr. Shifrin in Seattle. David Coe was born at Longbranch, Washington.

Scope and Content: Tape recorded interview (28 June 1979), interviewed by Meta Kaplan; telephoned addenda notes to interview; photograph. Discusses father's upward mobility through business and real estate ventures in Seattle and mentions members of the Seattle Jewish community who befriended the Shifrins. David Coe discusses White Man's Cove and Home Colony and his father's career in the fur business in Seattle, Tacoma and Vancouver.
