Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Vigil was begun by a man named Laughing Otter in the mid-1980s as a way for the gay community to come together in grieving and to memorialize their late friends. Responsibility for organizing the annual event on the lawn of Seattle Community College was assumed in 1988 by Dale Inman. His wife, Carol, continued it after his death until 1998.
