Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Marianne Preble Longfellow (1812-1888) married Stephen Longfellow (1805-1850) in 1831. Stephen was the elder brother of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Marianne’s parents were Judge William Pitt Preble and Nancy Gale Tucker Preble. Marianne and Stephen had six children. The couple divorced in 1850 and Stephen died soon thereafter. Later in 1850, Marianne married George F. Fuller and moved to Louisville, Kentucky.
