In 2000 the Office of Undergraduate Studies applied for a grant from the United States Department of Education to set up an international semester program with the strategic initiative for the expansion and improvement of international studies and foreign languages at the University of Utah. These semesters utilized different disciplinary and departmental approaches with the aim of providing the students with a broad and integrated perspective in the diverse locations of India, Ecaudor, Peru, Thailand, Japan, and Southern Utah. This collection contains records about the grant application and follow-up of the International Semester Program.

The majority of the material in this collection consists of records for the Department of Education Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad Grant and the Department of Education Title VI Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language Program Grant. This includes a 2000 Application for the Department of Education grant as well as progress reports and external evaluator reports of the program's operation. There are also files specifically about the programs in Ecaudor and Peru. This collection also contains class syllabi for university courses that were relevant to the program. One file from the Office of Residential Living consists of a housing agreement for a group of Austrian students to stay in university dorms during the summer of 2003.
