      <bioghist encodinganalog="5451_" id="ARN6299843" altrender="sync">
         <p>Arne Bystrom graduated in 1951 from the University of Washington
		  School of Architecture with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Medal
		  for Excellence in Design. Bystrom has received over 30 awards for design
		  excellence, including two National AIA Honor Awards and a Progressive
		  Architecture Design Award. He received a HUD National Award for his renovations
		  in the Pike Place Market in Seattle. Bystrom was President of the Seattle
		  Chapter AIA in 1984, served two terms on the Seattle Planning Commission, was a
		  member of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board, and is a founding member of
		  the Pike Place Market Historical Commission. Bystrom has been elected to the
		  College of Fellows, the highest ranking in the American Institute of
		  Architects.</p>
