The Medicine Bow Wind Project was conceived by the U.S. Department of the Interior's Water and Power Resources Division in 1979. The purpose of the project was to utilize wind operated generators near Medicine Bow, Wyoming, to supply electrical power without burning fossil fuels.

 Scope and Content Note

Contains drawings, manuals of operation, troubleshooting, electronics, maintenance, meteorologic, meter reading, wind speed data, along with standards and specifications, aperture cards, monthly newsletters and journals, and general files.

There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.

The Medicine Bow Wind Project records were donated to the American Heritage Center by Bill Young in 2006-2007. The papers arrived in fair to excellent condition and in good order.
