      <p>David Edward Becker was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1934. In 1956, he earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University. That same year, he began working for the family steel fabrication company, Ray F. Becker Company, and in 1970, he became its owner and president. In 1959, he and Mary Cecilia Berni were married; they later had three children. He served on the boards of Associated Oregon Industries, the Legacy Foundation, and the Portland Art Museum. He died in 2005.</p>

      <p>In this interview, Becker discusses his family background, and particularly talks about the life and career of his father, Ray F. Becker. He discusses the family steel fabrication business, the Ray F. Becker Company, and talks about how the business changed over the 20th century.</p>
