      <p>Dr. Ernest C. Bay served as Superintendent of the Washington State University Research and Extension Center in Puyallup from 1975 until 1986. He remained in Puyallup where he returned to research as an urban entomologist until his retirement in 1992.</p>
      <p>Dr. Bay was born in 1929 and raised in Schenectady, NY. After graduating from Nott Terrace High School, he studied Research Technology at Long Island Agricultural and 
  			Technical Institute in Farmingdale, Long Island, and later received both  B.S. (1953) and Ph.D (1960) degrees in entomology from Cornell University.  He married his wife Ellen in 1960 and has two sons, Steven and Michael. Before coming to WSU, he held professorial and administrative ranks at the University of California Riverside (1960-1971) and the University of Maryland at College Park, MD (1971-1975).

      <p>This collection consists of a scrapbook documenting the creation and operation of the David Allmendinger Center at the Washington State University Puyallup Research and Extension Center. The Allmendinger Center, dedicated in 1985, was the first privately financed building at the Puyallup Center. The scrapbook was created by Dr. Ernest C. Bay, urban entomologist and Superintendent of the Puyallup center from 1975 to 1986. The collection also includes Bay's memoir of his tenure as superintendent.<?xm-replace_text {Text of the scope and content note, in paragraphs; separate each with
