In 1962, with the approval of President James E. Brooks and by vote of the faculty, the Faculty Council evolved into the Faculty Senate, a body which was to represent the faculty in matters relating to curriculum, educational policy, academic regulations and standards, as well as faculty welfare and personnel policies.

The Faculty Senate is the primary means by which faculty collectively share in the governance of Central Washington University (CWU) by shaping the university’s academic environment.

Originally stored in three-ring binders, papers have been placed in acid free folders and boxes.
