Quartermaster and customs collector at Kodiak, Alaska.

John King was born in 1827. He worked on the Northwestern Boundary Survey, 1857-1860, was a quartermaster during the Civil War, and was secretary to the Willamette Falls Canal and Lock Company, 1871-1873. He died 1915.

Papers of a customs collector at Kodiak, Alaska, including a diary (1858-59), concerning his work as quartermaster supplying the Northwest Boundary Survey, letters (1875-77), describing social and physical conditions in Sitka and Kodiak, along with microfilm copies of a diary (1851-53), and letters (1857-77).
