		  professor of music</abstract></did><bioghist encodinganalog="5451_" id="a2"><p>Carl Paige Wood was born in 1885 in Taunton, Massachusetts. He
		  graduated from Harvard University with a master’s degree in music and started
		  teaching as an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Washington in
		  1920. During this time he wrote and published several books on music titled The
		  Texture of Music: a Manual of Elementary Harmony (1931), Ear Tests in Harmony
		  (1936) and The Physical Basis of Harmony. He became the Director of the School
		  of Music at the University of Washington in 1939 and remained there until his
