      <p>The James H. Skinner autobiography was written in 1915 and describes Skinner's (b. 1842) highlights of his life from childhood to his mid-thirties.</p>
      <p> Skinner recalls a burial at sea on the voyage he took with his parents to California in 1845, the trip around Cape Horn, the war with Mexico over California, and watching a bullfight. Other topics covered include San Francisco fires, a parade celebrating the end of the war, a journey to Utah, visiting the site of the Mountain Meadows massacre, homesteading in Beaver County, Utah, participating in a militia known as the Minute Men, working as a carpenter on the St. George temple, and a mission to the New England states.</p>
