			<p>Edward [Egbert] Roscoe Murrow was born on April 25, 1908, near Greensboro, North
				Carolina. Prior to his career in broadcasting, for which he is best known, Murrow
				worked for Emergency Committee in Aid of Displaced Foreign Scholars from 1932-1935.
				This committee was a part an organization based in Great Britain called the Academic
				Assistance Council, which would later be known as Society for the Protection of
				Science and Learning. One of the goals of the organization was to provide employment
				and refuge for scholars living in Fascist and Communist regimes.</p>

			<p>This collection consists of documents (reproductions) related to Edward R. Murrow's
				work with the Emergency Committee in Aid of Displaced German Scholars. These
				documents were copied from the records of the Society for the Protection of Science
				and Learning, with an explanatory letter from Professor Michael Berkowitz,
				University College London (11/3/2010).</p>
