         <p>Blanche Harriette Bryson was born on March 26, 1910 in Walla Walla, Washington to parents Elmer D. and Charlotte Doane Bryson. A lifelong resident of Walla Walla, she attended grade school there as well as Whitman College, graduating in 1932 and studying English. At Whitman, she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. After college, Bryson taught at a school in the Touchet-Gardenia area and also worked in her family's sheep business. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Daughters of the Pioneers, Daughters of the Nile, Order of the Eastern Star, Huguenot Society, and the Whitman College Alumni Association. Bryson died on October 9, 1995 in the Washington Odd Fellows Home, Walla Walla.</p>

         <p>The Blanche Bryson Papers houses personal material related to the Bryson family as well as personal material related to the Elliot family. The collection, which dates from 1907 to 1936, consists of photographs depicting people and scenes at Whitman College and in Walla Walla, a scrapbook, a pressed flower album, and various pamphlets belonging to Blanche Harriette Bryson and Elmer Bryson. Additional materials include an unlabeled 16 mm magnetic film tape, slides, photographs, and a large collection of postcards belonging to friends and members of the Elliot family including: Barbara Elliot, T.C. Elliot, Anna Baker Elliot, Mary E. Elliot, Mary A. Elliot, Dorothy Elliot, and others.</p>
