Ruth Adams Knight (1898-1974) was born in Defiance, Ohio. A writer from her early years, she enrolled in Toledo University and was one of a group of students recruited to work for the Toledo Times in 1918 during World War I. She went on to have a career as a journalist in Toledo; she continued this career from 1929 in New York City. There she became interested in radio and became a prolific scriptwriter. She created the serial "Brave Tomorrow", and also wrote for shows such as "Cavalcade of America". At the same time she wrote non-fiction books, plays, and articles, and later returned to ficiton writing. She wrote adult novels such as Women Must Weep; and young adult novels such as Valiant Comrades. By the 1950s she was also doing television scriptwriting. Married three times, she had two children and died in July of 1974.
Collection comprises professional correspondence; manuscripts including radio scripts, books, stories, and television scripts; tearsheets; and miscellaneous reviews, biographical information, cards, and memorabilia from Switzerland. Some items are carbon copies.
