Whitman College's Health and Counseling Center has grown into a central part of the college's commitment to student well-being and success. While health services evolved over the decades, the 1990s and early 2000s marked a period of formal expansion in response to growing national awareness around mental health in higher education. During this time, the college strengthened its counseling and health services, increasing staff support and outreach while integrating wellness programming into campus life. As The Transformation of Whitman College notes, this development reflected the college's broader focus on supporting students holistically, academically, emotionally, and socially, as part of its liberal arts mission.

Today, the Health and Counseling Center continues to serve students through individual and group counseling, wellness education, prevention programs, outreach, and consultation. The Center's mission is to empower students by helping them develop insight and practical skills for personal and academic growth.
