         <p>This collection consists primarily of papers published by Leonard Askham in Washington State University publications and elsewhere, professional correspondence, and workshops and project proposals related to Askham's work. Subjects covered include recreation, particularly outdoor recreation, ecology and biology, and pesticides. His most extensive study is a study that attempts to find a replacement for a rodent-cide called Endrin by studying its effects on rodent and raptor populations in an orchard where the poison was applied.</p>

      <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">
    
         <p>Leonard R. Askham began teaching at Washington State University in 1972.  He taught in the Department of Horticulture and in Cooperative Extension as an outdoor recreation specialist. Askham's work includes research on the use of rodent pesticides and attempts to find ways to minimize their impact on other animals, topics relevant to those engaging in outdoor activities in the wilderness, and research on non-toxic bird repellent.</p>
