      <head>Historical Sketch:</head>
      <p>The Library Staff Association of Washington State University formed a committee in 1966 to deal with matters relating to the newly instituted State Higher Education Personnel Board. Throughout the early and mid-1970s the committee was involved with the Board in establishing statewide regulations for classified staff of the state's academic libraries, Under the auspices of the Library Staff Association, matters such as job descriptions, pay scales, policies, and reclassification of occupations relating to higher education were considered.</p>

      <p>The records of the Library Staff Association Committee on Higher Education Personnel Board are arranged in a single alphabetical series. The records of the Committee include minutes of the Library Administrative Council, correspondence committee members' personal files, legislative bills, and information pertaining to the functions of the Higher Education Personnel Board. The files deal with the years 1966-1977, but bulk largest in the years 1972-1977.</p>
