Biographical Note

Veenai Dhanammal (1867-1938) was a Carnatic musician from Chennai, India. She came from a musical family, with her grandmother being a famous dancer and her mother a vocalist. Her personal style, the Veenai Dhanammal bani, is known for its adherence to traditional forms of expression.
