Biography of Mildred Kenney Rost

Mildred Kenney Rost grew up near Wheatland, Wyoming. Her parents, William and Jennie Kenney, settled on a ranch, then moved to Wheatland in 1903, where they operated a dry goods store and founded Wheatland’s first newspaper. Mildred Kenney graduated from Wheatland High School in 1914 and from Oberlin College in 1919. She taught at Jireh College, 1919-1920, and then moved to Denver, where she was an employee and strong supporter of the Denver Public Library. She left the library when she married artist Miles Ernest Rost in 1936. The couple moved to Oceanside, California.
