      <head>Biographical Note</head>
      <p>A. J. Gibson was an architect in Missoula, Montana, who designed and
		  built several of the city’s most notable historic buildings. He is responsible
		  for Main Hall on the campus of The University of Montana, the Missoula County
		  Courthouse, and many private residences. He was married to Etta Maud Lockley,
		  the daughter of Frederic Lockley, a prominent newspaperman. The couple died in
		  an automobile-train accident on New Years in 1928. </p>

    <scopecontent encodinganalog="520">
      <p>The collection contains materials related to the estate of A. J.
		  Gibson and his wife, Maud Lockley Gibson. The materials related to the settling
		  of the Gibson estate include wills, life insurance policies, stockholder
		  papers, property deeds, bank financial statements, and correspondence. Some
		  notable items among the estate papers include a letter A.J. Gibson wrote to his
		  wife in 1925 with financial instructions for her in the event of his death,
		  family notes, and a 1864 deed from Savannah, Ohio. Other Gibson-related items
		  include photographs, miscellany, and clippings. George B. and Helene Kennett
		  Wilcox were the Gibsons’ close friends and executors of their estate. Some of
		  the materials in the collection were created or compiled by George Wilcox.</p>
