The 1983 Indian self-rule conference, sponsored by the Institute of the American West, was held in Sun Valley Idaho from August 17-20, 1983. The conference discussed the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, white-Indian relations, and Indian culture.
The Indian self-rule oral history audio recordings consists of audio from the 1983 Indian self-rule conference as well as interviews with Native Americans. Most of the items have been digitized and are available for viewing in the reading room.
The materials have kept their original numbering.
