			<p>Karl Signell is perhaps best known for his publications in Turkish music, especially "Makam: Modal practice in Turkish art music". He has done extensive field research in the U.S. and in more than a dozen countries abroad, including Turkey, Indonesia, and Japan.</p>
			<p>Besides editing Ethnomusicology OnLine <extref href="https://www.umbc.edu/eol/" show="new" actuate="onrequest">https://www.umbc.edu/eol/</extref>, his multimedia projects include other Web sites, CDs, CD-ROMs, and audio documentaries such as "The Nature of Music" series and "Music in a new world: America's ethnic traditions" series.</p>
