<p>"Diem Mines Limited (Non Personal Liability)" was the name of a Canadian subsidiary of Day Mines, Inc., which was incorporated in Victoria, British Columbia, October 12, 1950. As a result of exploration in the Metaline-Salmo mining areas astride the U.S.-Canadian border, Day Mines had acquired 29 claims in Canada and eight in the United States adjoining the boundary. These initial Canadian claims covered an area four miles long and 1/2 mile wide from the Pend Oreille River westward along the boundary. Diem Mines, wholly owned by Day Mines, was formed to manage these properties, and may also have subsequently acquired other claims in the Kootenay District of the Nelson Mining Division, British Columbia. In the fall of 1950 its directors included Henry L. Day, president; Paul B. Jessup, vice president; Frank W. Rothrock, secretary-treasurer; Wray D. Farmin; and Leo Simeon Gansner, a barrister at law of Nelson, British Columbia. The directorate of this corporation seems always to have maintained a predominance of Day Mines' executives. These records give no indication that this venture into Canada was profitable for Day Mines. In 1963 there were no employees on the site.</p>

Included are letters, British Columbia mining regulations, claim notices, financial statements, certificates of work, certificate of incorporation, bills of sale of mineral claims, annual reports filed under the companies act, minutes and other items relating to the annual meetings of directors and stockholders, and correspondence with federal and provincial agencies. The correspondence largely concerns prospecting and development, Canadian regulations, customs arrangements, taxes, and workmen's compensation.</p>
