Documents related to Hausenbuiller's textbook include manuscripts for various editions of the book, correspondence with publishers, photographs considered for the book, and feedback from experts in the field. Research files include descriptions of experiments testing the composition of soil in the region, data and results for the experiments, and correspondence related to the experiments.</p>

      <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">
    
         <p>Richard L. Hausenbuiller was a soil scientist at Washington State University (WSU) from 1942-1983, which includes work Hausenbuiller performed as a student at WSU. Hausenbuiller graduated from his PhD program at WSU in 1951 and worked at the Irrigated Experiment Station in Prosser as Professor of Soils. He transferred to the Pullman campus in 1960, where he worked until his retirement. Hausenbuiller's work covered methods used in soil testing and the soil composition of Eastern and Central Washington. Hausenbuiller also published a textbook called <title render="italic">Soil Science: Principles and Practices</title>.</p>
