Francis V. Nonini was born May 6, 1907 in Bayhorse, Idaho, to Custer County pioneers Victor P. and Domenica Nonini. He attended public school in Mackay, graduating from Mackay High School in 1925. He then attended the University of Idaho where he majored in geology and botany. After graduating in 1930 he began teaching general science and botany in the Moscow High School. He later earned a masters degree in education. During the summers he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Plant and Pest Control Division. In 1947 he was appointed principal of Moscow High School, a position he held until his retirement in 1962. He married Ruth Otness in 1934.

The papers of Francis V. Nonini span the years 1926 to 1936 and consist mainly of classroom notes and papers. They have been arranged alphabetically by course; the four papers are entered under Nonini and arranged alphabetically by title. The final item in the papers is a 3 ring binder on acrididae which contains colored photographs of the insects.
