      <p>The Albany Timber Carnival, a popular event in Oregon's Willamette Valley, ran from 1941 until 2000 and often took place in July to coincide with Independence Day. Activities included parades, logging sports, and fireworks displays, and the event included a royal court of princesses from Albany and other nearby communities.</p>

      <p>The Albany Timber Carnival home movies consist of four reels of silent, color 8mm film recorded on July 4, 1949. Footage includes tree climbing, water races, lake recreation, and log rolling. The reels all appear to  have been made by the same person or family on the same day. Each reel is approximately 50 feet in length, and footage totals approximately 10 minutes over the four reels.</p>
