The Marathon Oil Company was founded in 1887 as the Ohio Oil Company. It changed its name in 1962. In 1982, Marathon Oil became a subsidiary of the United States Steel Corporation. In 2001, the U.S. Steel Corporation’s, now the USX Corporation, made the decision to establish Marathon Oil as an independent company.
Collection contains issues of The Beacon, Marathon World, and a publication titled “Sixty Years of Progress: A History of the Ohio Oil Company.
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
