    <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">
      <p>George William MacKnight was born in Canada in 1881, the son of George Reuben and Eva MacKnight (the name is spelled McKnight on the birth record). During his naval service, MacKnight served first as a cabin boy and then as a full-fledged sailor. After his naval service he lived mainly in California, marrying Ellen Maude Snyder in 1903. George William MacKnight died in 1950 in Paradise Park, Santa Cruz County, California, and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose.</p>
