			<p>Frank Arthur Banks, 1883-1957, was born in Saco, Maine and received degrees from the
				University of Maine and the State College of Washington. He was a Bureau of
				Reclamation engineer who worked on various large projects throughout the Pacific
				Northwest. Notably, he supervised the construction of the Owyhee Dam in Oregon, and
				the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington State.</p>

			<p>The papers primarily consist of Frank Arthur Banks' correspondence, notes, memoranda,
				official project histories, design and technical reports, specifications,
				photographs and printed material for Bureau of Reclamation projects he directed in
				the Pacific Northwest. Also included are similar material acquired through private
				consultation on hydroelectric dams and public works in Washington State, British
				Columbia, Venezuela, and Punjab, India, notably the Bhakra Dam.</p>
