         <p>Summerfest, Inc. was organized in 1966 to promote the arts in Walla Walla, Washington. Its members made financial contributions to the arts in Walla Walla, Washington. Funds were initially raised through sales of <title render="italic">Walla Walla Remembers</title>, a book of sketches of historic Walla Walla homes by local artist Claire Mitchell. Money raised from the book sales, and donations from directors and friends, was used for art classes, ballet, and theater arts. Summerfest supported and put on many art shows and art classes before its dissolution in 1975.</p>
