These photographs were donated to the library by Mrs. Virginia Smith Freber in 1980, along with the papers found in (Ms 234). They are all originals and the majority were identified. The collection really represents two generations: Arthur Pedersen Freber and his father, Anton Pedersen. Notable are several nineteenth-century cabinets, and two tinted photographs of Virginia Smith Freber from the nineteen twenties.

The photographs were arranged with Freber's family portraits and career photos first, including those of his wife, his son, and then going back to his father. Next are photos of musicians, followed by a folder of miscellaneous portraits, some of which are tentatively identified or not identified at all.
