Biography of James D. Folger and the Cooksley sisters, Elsie Lloyd and Amy Chubb

Jim Folger was a published author and photographer from California. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and backpacking and wrote about his experiences. In the 1970s he met and befriended the Cooksley sisters, Elsie Lloyd and Amy Chubb, ranch women and hunting guides from the Johnson County, Wyoming area. Folger spent several hunting seasons in the 1970s with the sisters, who he photographed and wrote about in some of his articles.

Sisters, Amy Cooksley Chubb and Elsie Cooksley Lloyd immigrated to the United States from England with their parents and older brother in 1906. In 1914, the Cooksley family moved to Sheridan, Wyoming. During World War I, the sisters were cowpunchers and after the war, the sisters married, started families, and owned a ranch near Kaycee, Wyoming. In 1955, they started guiding big game hunters on BLM and private land. The sisters were big game hunters, guides, and ranchers in Wyoming for over twenty years.
