			<p>This collection consists of research materials for the book “Seven for Oregon” by
				Cornelia Shields. It includes interviews and notes, newspaper clippings, articles
				and other documents used by Shields in writing her book, which is a fictionalized
				account of the seven orphaned Sager children’s experiences on the Oregon Trail and
				living with Marcus and Narcissa Whitman from 1844 to 1847.</p>
