The Washington State University Libraries date to the founding of the Washington Agricultural College and School of Science, when the library was just a shelf in the President’s office in the first campus building. It quickly grew and became a room in the original College Hall, then half a floor in the Administration Building (Thompson Hall), then half of Bryan Hall, then the full Holland Library, and then the Owen Science and Engineering Library as well. Over time a number of departmental libraries acted as branches of the system, some officially and some unofficially.
Primarily consists of meeting minutes, budget reports, correspondence, and administrative reports related to the Library Administration Office from 197-2000. Items include inventory of library equipment, spending reports, correspondence, memoranda, and handbooks related to the automation of the libraries. Also includes meetings minutes related to several committees such as those for telecommunications, diversity, and data.
This is an unprocessed collection. Any arrangement reflects either a pre-existing order from the records' creators or previous custodians, or preliminary sorting performed by staff.
All boxes contain mostly correspondence, memoranda, financial and administrative reports related to the Library Administration Office (LAO). Boxes 1-7 and 12-14 are organized chronologically. Boxes 8-11 are organized alphabetically. Box 5 seems to have no particular order.
